My PhD dissertation looks at how polyamorous families in Canada navigate relationships with institutions and systems that only recognize monogamy.

How do polyamorous families fill out the census, register children for school, signing their family up for healthcare benefits, deal with the legal system, etc? How do they self-advocate (or not) in institutional contexts? What are the ways that poly families are marginalized?
